Week 23: Twiddle

Scratch Overview

The Twiddle scratch uses the ring and index finger to alternate snapping the crossfader against your thumb. This scratch is a precursor to the Crab Scratch and can be done starting with the crossfader open or closed. The idea is to use your thumb almost like a spring to bounce the crossfader against using your ring and index fingers. The first cut is made with a ring finger and the second is made with the index finger.

Center Fader Position: Closed-Open-Closed

Scratch Notations: The BOTTOM of the graph (where the blue line begins) is the start of the scratch sample. The TOP of the graph (where the blue line peaks) is the end of the scratch sample. PUSH the record FORWARD from BOTTOM to TOP and PULL the record BACK from TOP to BOTTOM. The distance from LEFT to RIGHT of the graph is the speed of how fast you move the record.
